Dr. Upadhyay hails from a religious Hindu family. His father, Sh. N. R. Bharadwaj Upadhyay was a renowned “Vaidya” & a freedom fighter. He has graduated Ayurvedacharya from Kanpur University & done N.D. (Doctor of Naturopathy) from Gorakhpur. He has done B. Sc. (Bio Sciences) from Agra University and Ph. D. from Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri Sanskrit University, New Delhi. His special trainings are from Phyto-Chemistry Div. National Botanical Research Institute (C.S.I.R) Lucknow & Pharmacopoeia Laboratory of Indian Medicine governed by Ministry of AYUSH. He worked as Senior Lecturer (Reader Designate) in Deptt. Of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana Vibhag, (Ayurvedic Pharmacology) at the prestigious Govt. Ayurvedic College, Gurukul Kangri, Haridwar (Uttarakhand) India for many years. Also, worked as Professor in Deptt. Of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana Vibhag, (Ayurvedic Pharmacology) at Himalaya Ayurvedic College located at Shyampur (Rishikesh).
